Writer's Best Friend

You've finished the book you've been living with for the past year or so.  You want to send it off at once to an agent or publisher.  But are you absolutely sure it's ready?  Wouldn't it be better to get an objective view first? In most cases, agents and editors will come to a decision about your manuscript before they reach the bottom of the first page.  Your clever idea alone won’t win them over.  What will excite them is reading your clever idea developed into a well-constructed text supported by your skilful handling of plot, structure, characterisation, setting and dialogue.

And, as every aspiring writer soon discovers, that is easier said than done.

What I can do for you

As a literary consultant, my job is to provide you with the advice and constructive criticism you need to ensure that your manuscript is ready for submission to an agent or editor.

I do this by giving you the support that all writers need in areas including:

  • Plot and sub-plot
  • Characterisation
  • Dramatic question
  • Structure and layout
  • Setting
  • Dialogue
  • Word usage
  • Syntax and grammar
  • Spelling and punctuation

And, as the ‘writer’s best friend’, I will do this myself, with you, on a one-to-one basis by phone, email, post or in person.

What I can’t do for you

I can’t write your text for you, nor can I guarantee that your submission will meet with success with agents or publishers.
